Reviews are great on these books as well…
I learned about this series from a friend who has read the books as a child himself (so, I’m guessing the late 1970s or early 1980s). My son has devoured the whole 5 books series in a few days. The stories are easy enough to follow for a 9-year-old and they are very funny (for a 9-year-old). It’s about a family with 2 brothers, the younger one – a 2-year-old Fudge- being the main source of exasperation and fun for all involved. My child would just randomly laugh out loud and then rush to me to read me a sequence in the book – something that truly warms my heart. For most young readers, it’s all about the content and this is a funny, totally appropriate material. Definitely recommend.
Having a very Fudge-esque brother himself, my son was delighted to read a book that really got on his level about having siblings that drive you crazy. It helped him have more patience and feel less alone about the age gap between them, too. But then, Judy Bloom has always been able to deliver in a way that makes kids feel understood. Excellent series and a fun read!
Me and my son who is 9 years read these together. They are really funny, we take turns reading, he even told his school class about them now they are reading them too. Highly enjoyable to read, the trouble the boys get into is awesome.
